West Indies bring in Bob Carter as batting consultant
Cricket West Indies (CWI) has brought in experienced New Zealand coach Bob Carter as the new batting consultant for a period of one-year. Carter, who is highly experienced, will work with the men's and women's sides as well as emerging and age-group players, while also contributing to the development of coaches across the region.
His appointment is crucial as West Indies prepare for the ODI World Cup Qualifier scheduled for February and March 2027. His first major assignment will be a regional tour later this month.
During that, Carter will visit all six first-class territories — Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands. The tour is designed to give him direct exposure to the players and coaching groups working within each territory.
“West Indies cricket has a proud tradition of producing outstanding batsmen, and my job is to help build the base to produce future generations of world-class players. My focus has always been on supporting players and coaches to reach their full potential, and I am looking forward to working alongside the regional and high-performance coaches to help achieve that,” Carter said in a CWI release.
Carter carries an enormous amount of coaching experience, particularly from his time in New Zealand cricket. He has previously worked with the New Zealand women's national team that will give him experience in developing players.
