India women romped to a 72-run win over Sri Lanka in the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 to secure a record eighth Asia Cup title in Dubai on Sunday. After the victory, Indian players refused to collect the championship trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi, who was among the dignitaries present at the venue. The celebrations were also disrupted when the post-match trophy presentation was held up for almost an hour.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, who were the runners-up, received their medals. India, on the other hand, conducted their own medal ceremony for the best fielder, with fielding coach Subhadeep Ghosh also involved in the presentation. Nandani Sharma received the award from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, amid the presence of BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla. Notably, similar scenes were also witnessed during the men's Asia Cup final a year back.

After winning the tournament, India had also declined to accept the championship trophy directly from Naqvi. Saikia had explained at the time that the players were uncomfortable receiving the trophy from an individual who also occupied a senior position in Pakistan's political establishment.
