CPL 2026 : Jamaica Kingsmen book final spot with thrilling win over Amazon Warriors
Jamaica Kingsmen have secured their place in the final of the Caribbean Premier League 2026 after defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors by five wickets in a high-octane Qualifier 2 at Kensington Oval on Saturday. Chasing a formidable target of 207, the Kingsmen remained defiant in their approach to get over the line with two balls to spare.
Earlier, Amazon Warriors, after being asked to bat, had posted 206/4 following a sensational century from Shimron Hetmyer, who, leading from the front, unleashed a breathtaking assault, smashing 102 off 45 balls. His innings featured eight sixes and four boundaries, helping the Warriors hugely. Hetmyer stitched a 96-run partnership with Shaio Hope, who scored 40 off 33 to guide the side to a challenging total. However, Jamaica came out all guns blazing to outlay the Warriors.
For Jamaica, Maaz Sadaqat and Kirk McKenzie started off nicely, hitting 41 and 34, respectively. Keacy Carty and Rovman Powell also chipped in with 56 and 40* to fire the side into the final. Notably, it’s been a massive turnaround for Kingsmen's who struggled for consistency during the league phase, losing four of their first six matches.
