Asian Games 2026: Bangladesh, Sri Lanka progress to semifinals following washouts

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have booked their places in the semifinals of the ongoing 2026 Asian Games. Both sides were scheduled to face their respective opponents in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, but persistent rain in Nisshin did not allow the matches to take place, forcing the officials to call off the games.
Sri Lanka's clash with Nepal was called off earlier in the day, before Bangladesh's face-off with Malaysia met the same fate. In the wake of no result possible in either encounter, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka progressed to the semifinals due to having higher ICC rankings.
Now, in the semi-finals, India will go against Sri Lanka, while Pakistan will face Bangladesh. Both matches are scheduled to be played on Thursday.
