The build-up to the Women’s Premier League 2027 season has started, with all of the five franchises revealing their retained and released players list. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have released four players in Grace Harris, Linsey Smith, D Hemalatha and Gautami Nayak. RCB have, however, been boosted by the availability of Ellyse Perry, who is set to return to the tournament after missing the 2026 season due to personal reasons.

Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have also made notable changes. Delhi Capitals, who have finished runners-up four times, have also reshuffled their squad, releasing Alana King and Lizelle Lee, Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia, Pragati Singh and Eddla Srujana. UP Warriorz have released nine players following their last-place finish in 2026. They have decided to let go of Deandra Dottin, Chloe Tryon, Charli Knott, Amy Jones, Shweta Sehrawat, Asha Sobhana, Kiran Navgire, G Trisha and Suman Meena.

Two-time WPL champions Mumbai Indians have released six players in the form of Milly Illingworth, G Kamalini, Saika Ishaque, Kranthi Reddy, Poonam Khemnar and Triveni Vasistha. The WPL 2027 auction is scheduled for October 28 in Kochi, while the fifth edition of the WPL is scheduled to be played from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
