India and West Indies are set to get back to action as they both are scheduled to take on each other in the second ODI on Wednesday in Guwahati, with India looking to secure a series-clinching win. West Indies, meanwhile, will be desperate to claim a win to level the series 1-1 and avoid the embarrassment of losing the series. The men in blue head into the second match with a lot of confidence after a ruthless performance from them in the opening match completely decimated the visitors. Indian batters comfortably overpowered the West Indies to lift the side to a staggering win. However, their bowlers had to do hard yards to get vital wickets.

Shubman Gill was in outstanding touch in the opening match, slamming a powerful century to give the side a roaring start in chase of 296. Apart from Gill, the masterclass performance came from star batter Virat Kohli, who lit up the day with a sparkling knock, hitting his 55th ODI hundred that helped him get to 15,000 ODI runs. During his magnificent knock of 139* off 88, Kohli launched nine sixes, his highest tally in a single ODI innings. Veteran batter Rohit Sharma too continues to provide stability at the top. Both Rohit and Kohli, having retired from the Test and T20Is, are looking to bolster their place in the team ahead of the ODI World Cup 2027.

Meanwhile, in India’s bowling attack, Kuldeep Yadav was the standout performer, claiming four wickets and playing a major role in the team's win. Most notably, if India secure their series win against West Indies, then it will extend their brilliant run against the West Indies to 14 consecutive ODI series wins. For West Indies, on the other hand, it is all about giving it all to bring India down. In the first match, they started well but their middle order failed to capitalise on that. Now, Shai Hope, John Campbell, Amir Jangoo, Roston Chase and Matthew Forde will once again be crucial for the men in maroon to fight it out against the hosts.
