Rohit lauds Rinku after Afghanistan thriller

India thrashed Afghanistan in the third and final T20I match on Wednesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to record their one of the most outstanding victories in the T20Is. The game, that left spectators at the edge of their seats, witnessed two super overs. Deciding to bat after winning the toss, India racked up a competitive total of 212 in their initial innings for the loss of 4 wickets.
India recorded the brilliant performance from skipper Rohit Sharma who played a gutsy knock of 121* that propelled the team to the solid total. Alongside Rohit Sharma, there was another gritty knock coming in from India’s rising player Rinku Singh who scored 69 unbeaten to stitch a robust 190-run partnership with Rohit Sharma from 93 balls. In the last two overs, both batters scored 58 runs to record most runs in a T20I game. Lauding Rinku Singh after India's win, Rohit Sharma stated that Rinku is coming of age.
“Creating the partnership was important and we (Rinku and I) kept talking to each other to not lose that intent in big games and it was a good game for us to be in, the pressure was there and was important to bat long and deep and not compromise on the intent we want to show,” Rohit said after the match.
“The last couple of series that he played, he showed what he can do with the bat. Very calm and knows his strength pretty well. He is coming of age and doing what is expected of him and he has done well for India. It augurs well for the team moving forward, wanted someone like that at the backend and we know what he has done in the IPL and he has carried that to the Indian colours as well,” Rohit Sharma said after the match," he said.
