Rohit roars back with a plethora of records

In an encouraging turn of events , Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma bounced back from consecutive ducks in the first and second T20Is against Afghanistan to score a fantabulous century in the third and final match on Wednesday at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This remarkable innings not only showcased Rohit's resilience but also served as a huge boost for the Indian cricket team just ahead of the T20I World Cup 2024.
The first two T20Is were uncharacteristically proved to be challenging for Rohit, who only deals in boundaries with his explosive batting. The initial setbacks served as a big blow for Rohit, but you cannot take a seasoned player for granted. However, Rohit's ability to overcome adversity is widely known as he came to the forefront in the third match, where he remained one of the warriors in India’s glorious win.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma played a terrific 121-run knock unbeaten to help India record their glorious win against Afghanistan in the third and final T20I game to complete the series whitewash. Rohit Sharma was on swing from the get go, epitomising the figure that he is known for, shattering a number of records during his whirlwind of blazing knock.
During the course of his innings, Rohit Sharma left behind former England skipper Eoin Morgan for most sixes as skipper. Rohit Sharma now has 87 sixes in opposition to Morgan’s 86 sixes. Another record for Rohit Sharma came after he became the only cricketer to have most centuries (5) in the shortest format of the game. Rohit Sharma also went past former Indian skipper and current batter Virat Kohli for most T20I runs as skipper with 1648 runs, meanwhile Virat Kohli carries 1570 runs.
Rohit's ton not only marked his huge return but also underlined his leadership qualities. As a captain, Rohit led from the front, setting an example for the team and instilling confidence among his fellow players. Rohit led the young-looking squad from front to extend India’s dominance in the shortest format of the game. Rohit’s knack to deliver with the bat under challenging circumstances will be crucial for India in the upcoming T20I World Cup.
