New Zealand will have to make do without pace bowler Kyle Jamieson for their upcoming three-match ODI series against England, beginning on October 26. The tall fast bowler reported stiffness in his left side during a training session on Saturday, prompting the team management to withdraw him from the squad as a precautionary measure.

According to New Zealand Cricket (NZC), Jamieson will return to Christchurch for further medical evaluation and treatment. The aim is to have him fit in time for the home series against the West Indies in November.

“Kyle experienced some stiffness in his side after bowling today and we didn’t want to take any risks at this stage of the summer,” NZ head coach Rob Walter said

“We felt it was best for him to sit out this one-day series and give himself the best chance of being ready for the West Indies tour which starts on November 5 in Auckland.”

New Zealand will take on England in the first of three ODIs at Bay Oval in Tauranga on Sunday.
