T20 World up 2026: Pakistan decide to field in tense face-off against India

The atmosphere in Colombo is electric as Pakistan won the toss and chose to field in what promises to be a high-voltage encounter against arch-rivals India in the Men's T20 World Cup. Whenever these two cricketing giants collide, the stakes are always high, and this clash is no different. Notably, the India-Pakistan rivalry remains one of the most intense spectacles in world sport.
India have traditionally enjoyed the upper hand, building a record that heavily favours them. While India may hold the historical edge, Pakistan bring an intriguing new weapon in the form of spinner Usman Tariq. His recent performances have caught attention, and his spell could be pivotal against India.
Notably, there was no customary handshake between the two captains during the toss. India skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan captain Salman Agha refrained from acknowledging each other, with both players notably avoiding eye contact. India, meanwhile, made two significant changes to their playing XI. Dynamic opener Abhishek Sharma was drafted into the side to bolster the batting lineup, while Kuldeep Yadav have returned to strengthen the bowling attack.
India playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk), Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah
Pakistan playing XI: Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Ali Agha (c), Babar Azam, Usman Khan, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed, Usman Tariq
