Virat Kohli returns for England ODIs, Jaiswal misses out
India have named their squad for the upcoming ODI series against England next month, with star batter Virat Kohli making his comeback. The former captain is back in contention after being sidelined during the recent ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring concern. However, his participation is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI.
The notable absentee in the squad is young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who delivered an outstanding performance in the ODI series against Afghanistan. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 110 runs in the third ODI against Afghanistan on Saturday, playing a brilliant role in helping India sweep the series. Meanwhile, the selectors have also clarified the wicketkeeping options, with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan earning places in the squad.
Shubman Gill will continue to lead the side, and Shreyas Iyer will serve as his deputy. The three-match ODI series is scheduled to begin on July 14 in Birmingham, followed by the second and third games, which will be held on July 16 and July 19.
