Melbourne Stars rope in overton twins for BBL|16
Melbourne Stars have secured the services of English twins Craig and Jamie Overton for BBL|16, with the brothers inking one-year contracts with the Stars and becoming the first twins set to feature in the Big Bash League. Their inclusion will help stars both in bowling and batting departments. Jamie Overton is pretty familiar with BBL, having represented Adelaide Strikers for three seasons. His debut BBL campaign (BBL|13) was highly impressive, where he claimed 16 wickets.
“This announcement is an exciting one for our club on a number of levels,” Melbourne Stars general manager James Rosengarten said in a release.
“It’s a unique story having twin brothers sign together and one that we hope our fans are going to love. But more importantly, they both bring a really valuable set of skills to the club. Jamie and Craig are both genuinely quick bowlers and will no doubt trouble a lot of batters this summer.”
“They’re also big hitters, so we’re ready for some fireworks at the end of the batting innings. We think this dual signing is going to set us up really well for success. Combining them both in the line-up with Peter Siddle’s speed will be worth getting to the ’G to watch.”
Meanwhile, Craig has never been involved in the Big Bash League before; however, he would look to make a solid impact in the upcoming edition.
