Jeet Raval retires from professional cricket

Jeet Raval has retired from professional cricket, with Northern Districts Cricket confirming the development. Having amassed more than 10,000 first-class runs and represented New Zealand in 24 Test matches, Raval department with an accomplished record. Raval, who was born in Ahmedabad in India, moved to Auckland and made his first-class debut for the Auckland Aces at the age of 20. 

During his debut season, in only his third first-class appearance, he slammed a magnificent 256 that served as a defining knock in his career. In his first-class career, he went on to play for Auckland (73), the Central Stags (10) and Northern Districts (46). 

"It's with a great honour and a privilege that I made this decision. I feel at peace and very content. The childhood dream [was] obviously to play for Black Caps and I look back with pride. It wasn't just my dream, [but] also my father's dream as well. We saw an opportunity and he moved the family here so I could have an opportunity to live my dream,” Raval told Northern Districts Cricket Association. 

Raval's consistent performances also earned him an opportunity to play for New Zealand. His Test career with the Black Caps ran from the 2016/17 season through to 2019/20, during which he appeared in 24 matches as an opening batter. One of his most impressive performances came at Seddon Park during the 2018/19 season, when he scored a career-best 132 against Bangladesh.
