West Indies, riding on a glittering century from captain Shai Hope, pulled off a brilliant six-wicket victory over India in the second T20I in Ranchi on Friday, to level the five-match series at 1-1. West Indies, chasing a massive target of 250, saw Shai Hope lead the charge with a magnificent unbeaten century, blasting 102*. Sherfane Rutherford, meanwhile, played a breathtaking knock of 84 to help the side execute an impressive run chase. Romario Shepherd also blazed a quick-fire unbeaten 34 off 13 deliveries to play his part as West India got over the line in 18.3 overs.

Earlier, India, asked to bat, demonstrated their batting attack, piling up a gigantic 249/5 in 20 overs. For India, Sanju Samson rose to the occasion, smashing 82 off 41 balls. He capitalised on two dropped catches to make the West Indies pay, playing a big knock. 

His terrific innings featured nine fours and four sixes. Ishan Kishan also played an important role at the top of the order, scoring 43 off 22 deliveries. In the middle order, Shreyas Iyer and Tilak Varma scored 40 and 44*, respectively, to further bolster India’s total. They both stitched an explosive 83-run partnership off only 32 balls.
