The 10th edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup is nearing its start very fast, with England set to host the prestigious tournament from June 12 to July 5. The tournament will begin at Edgbaston on June 12, where hosts England will face Sri Lanka in the opening match. It will be a big moment for England cricket, as the country hosts the Women's T20 World Cup for only the second time, having staged the inaugural edition back in 2009.

It is also the first women's ICC tournament to be held in the United Kingdom since the memorable 2017 Women's ODI World Cup. Notably, for the first time, 12 nations will compete for the trophy. The expansion from 10 teams provides greater opportunities for emerging nations to demonstrate their talent. Among the major notable points is the historic qualification of the Netherlands, who will make their Women's T20 World Cup debut. Ireland also return to the tournament after missing out on the 2024 edition held in the United Arab Emirates.

The participating teams have been divided into two groups of six. India have been placed in a challenging Group A that also includes defending champions Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands. In Group B, hosts England have been placed alongside Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. India will begin their campaign on June 14 (Sunday) by taking on Pakistan women in a blockbuster clash. And defending champions Australia's campaign begins on June 13 in Manchester against South Africa.

The group stage will run until June 28, with teams earning two points for a victory and one point for a no-result. In case of a tied match, a Super Over will be held to determine the winner. The tournament format remains unchanged from the previous edition, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The first semi-final match will be played on June 30 and the second semi-final on July 2. Both semi-finals will be played at The Oval in London.

Venues:

Group-stage fixtures will be played at Edgbaston, Old Trafford, Headingley, the Rose Bowl, Bristol County Ground, and Lord's. The tournament's grand finale will take place at the historic Lord's Cricket Ground on July 5.
