AFG vs SA 1st ODI: Afghanistan race to first ever win over South Africa

Afghanistan achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a historic victory over South Africa in the first ODI of their three-match series on Wednesday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Afghanistan demonstrated exceptional bowling prowess, with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Allah Ghazanfar claiming four and three wickets respectively.
Rashid Khan also made a major contribution, taking two wickets. With the help of terrific bowling, Afghanistan bowled South Africa out for just 106 runs in 33.3 overs. For South Africa, Wiaan Mulder was the highest scorer with 52 runs off 84.
In their chase, Afghanistan didn’t have a desired start but crucial contributions from Azmatullah Omarzai (25) and Gulbadin Naib (34) helped the side successfully chase down the modest total in 26 overs for the loss of four wickets to complete a six-wicket victory. This victory marks a significant achievement for Afghanistan, who have made tremendous progress overs the past few years.
