“I would be the happiest when we stand at the podium with trophy”: KKR player reveals message from Gambhir

Kolkata Knight Riders romped to their third IPL title victory, overcoming Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final on Sunday at MA Chidambaram Stadium. KKR bowlers were on song, restricting Sunrisers Hyderabad, who have been the most destructive side this season, to (113), the lowest team total in IPL history.
In their chase, KKR rode on composed innings from Venkatesh Iyer and Rahmanullah Gurbaz who both made it look quite easy, bashing (52* off 26) and (39 off 32) respectively. KKR’s determination throughout the tournament has paid off as they successfully won their third IPL title. KKR won their last IPL title in 2014 and since then it is their first title victory in the highly competitive league.
After the victory, KKR player Nitish Rana narrated a short story about mentor Gautam Gambhir. Ahead of the IPL 2024, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was signed as the mentor of KKR after parting ways with Lucknow Super Giants. Gambhir served as the mentor at the LSG for two years. Gambhir's role in KKR's success has been incredibly instrumental.
“I am feeling really great. I want to share one small story when GG brother (Gautam Gambhir) was signed as the mentor, I had congratulated him on Whatsapp. I wrote a long message to him, but he replied saying, 'Thank you but I would be the happiest when we stand at the podium with the trophy in our hands'. Today is that day and I will never forget that message," Rana said while speaking to the broadcasters.
