Mitchell Santner to lead NZ against SL

Mitchell Santner is set to lead New Zealand on their upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka after being named as the team’s interim skipper for the Sri Lanka series. Santner will be captaining the side in two T20I and three ODIs. In the 15-member squad, New Zealand have handed maiden call-ups to allrounder Nathan Smith and wicketkeeper-batter Mitchell Hay. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) also confirmed that a call on the long-term skipper will be made later in the summer. 

Big names such as Devon Conway, Tom Blundell, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Will O'Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Southee and Kane Williamson were not considered for selection due to the upcoming three-match Test series against England. New Zealand will kick off their Sri Lanka tour with the two-match T20I series, beginning on November 9. 

Second match will be played on November 10. Both T20Is will be played in Dambulla. The Three-match ODI series will begin on November 13, with the first match in Dambulla. The second and third ODIs will be played in Pallekelle on November 17 and 19 respectively.
