Ahead of the T20I series against Australia, New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra has sustained a facial injury after running into an advertising hoarding while attempting a catch during training on Tuesday. He could be in doubt for tomorrow's opener against Australia; however, he continues to be monitored by the medical team.

"Ravindra received a facial laceration and will continue to be monitored by the medical team having passed an initial concussion test at the ground," the New Zealand team's official handle posted.

New Zealand are ready to launch into a three-match T20I series against Australia beginning on Wednesday as both teams continue their preparations for the next year's T20I World Cup. The first T20I will be held on October 1 at Bay Oval. The second and third matches will also be held at the same venue on October 3 and 4, respectively. The latest concern is a huge setback for New Zealand, as Ravindra has been New Zealand's key batter over the years across all formats. In 30 T20Is, he has plundered 452 runs, including three half-centuries, at a strike rate of 136.14. He has also claimed 14 wickets in the format.
