Sri Lanka brought the end to the proceedings on day five, bowling out Bangladesh for (318). Khaled Ahmed was the last batter to be dismissed.

Lahiru Kumara collected four wickets, while Kamindu Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya claimed three and two wickets respectively to restrict Bangladesh to (318) who were in chase of a massive target of (511).

Low scores from their top-order batters could not be enough for Bangladesh to save themselves from a big loss. Mominul Haque top-scored, smashing his fifty, followed by Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Das, scoring (36) and (38) respectively.

With the victory, Sri Lanka have left behind Pakistan to advance on the World Test Championship Standings, moving to the fourth place. Talking about the game, Sri Lanka, on day one, elected to bat after winning the toss.

They posted (531) in their first innings, with all of their batters at the top of order scoring more than (50), except Angelo Matthews who scored (23) runs. In reply, Bangladesh were bowled out for (178) in their first innings. Zakir Hasan remained the high-scorer with his (54) runs.
