As the third and final Test match between England and Sri Lanka approaches, both teams are gearing up to outperform each other for their particular purposes. The third Test match will begin on Friday at the Oval. The match will be an opportunity for England to clean sweep the series and an opportunity for Sri Lanka to salvage some pride.

England have already secured the series victory, having won both the first and second Tests convincingly. Their commanding performances have kept Sri Lanka on the ropes, with strong contributions across both batting and bowling departments. The series win has bolstered England's confidence and solidified their position.

For the final Test, England have announced their playing XI, which includes a notable inclusion, Josh Hull, a young star, who is set to make his England debut in the third Test at The Oval. He will come in for Matthew Potts as England have only made one change to their playing XI.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka will enter the final Test with the objective of improving their performance and regaining some respect. After losing the first two Tests, Sri Lanka have faced challenges both in terms of team performance and individual contributions.

The final match presents a critical opportunity for them to address these issues, and end the series on a positive note. Sri Lanka would look to work on both their batting and bowling to counter England's well-rounded approach and ensure a competitive performance.

England XI: Dan Lawrence, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope (c), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Olly Stone,  Josh Hull, Shoaib Bashir

Sri Lanka probable XI: Dimuth Karunaratne, Pathum Nissanka, Nishan Madushka (wk), Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Dhananjaya de Silva (c), Kamindu Mendis, Prabath Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Milan Priyanath Rathnayake
