Blair Tickner's long-awaited return marred by horrible injury

New Zealand were dealt a massive injury blow on day 1 of the second Test against West Indies on Wednesday after fast bowler Blair Tickner, who had made a long-awaited return to Test cricket, suffered what is believed to be a dislocated shoulder while fielding. Tickner returned with the figures of 4-32 off 16 overs, and his absence will be a terrible blow for New Zealand.
Tickner, who came into the XI after a long absence, having played his last Test for New Zealand in early 2023, was stretchered off the field. It all happened during the 63rd over when he dived full-length at fine leg in an attempt to save a boundary. But Tickner landed awkwardly near the rope, soon clutching his shoulder in distress. Tickner’s suspected dislocation adds to a growing list of injuries in the New Zealand camp. The team is already without several premier pacers, such as Matt Henry and Nathan Smith, who were ruled out after the first test in Christchurch.
Talking about the match, New Zealand, who decided to bowl, bowled West Indies out for 205, with Michael Ray taking three wickets. Jacob Duffy and Glenn Phillips shared one wicket each. In reply, New Zealand were 24/0 at stumps.
