Australia and Scotland are set to face off in the first T20I match of their three-match series on Wednesday at Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh.

Australia boast a formidable record in T20Is and they are much more experienced than Scotland. Australian squad features a mix of experienced campaigners and exciting young talent. Australian stalwarts Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood will be missing the series and in their absence Australia’s fast-bowling attack will be led by Nathan Ellis. Mitchell Marsh will be leading Australia’s new-look squad.

Young gun Jake Fraser-Mcgurk will get his first chance to play as Australia’s opener post David Warner retirement. Emerging star Cameron Green is also one of the several young members in the squad.

Scotland, on the other hand, go into the series with a reputation for resilience and determination. While they may not boast the same high-profile players as Australia, Scotland would look to demonstrate their fighting spirit. Fifteen players of Scotland’s 17-member squad participated at the T20I World Cup 2024.

Overall, Scotland players would look to rise to the occasion and challenge more established Australia. Both Australia and Scotland have faced each other once in T20Is. Their meeting came at the T20I World Cup 2024, where Australia thrashed Scotland.

Scotland squad: Richie Berrington (c), Charlie Cassell, Matthew Cross, Bradley Currie, Jasper Davidson, Chris Greaves, Oli Hairs, Jack Jarvis, Michael Jones, Michael Leask, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Chris Sole, Charlie Tear, Mark Watt, Bradley Wheal

Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa
