In an eye-catching final of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, St Lucia Kings secured their first-ever CPL title by defeating Amazon Warriors on Monday at Providence Stadium. Opting to bowl first, St Lucia Kings showcased a stellar performance in the field, restricting the Warriors for a modest total of 138/8 runs in 20 overs.

Amazon Warriors struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. There wasn’t any big contribution for the Warriors with all of their explosive batters losing their wickets for low scores. Players like Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Shimron Hetmyer and Keemo Paul failed to step up when it mattered the most. Shai Hope and Dwaine Pretorious were the top scorers for the team with their scores of 22 and 25 respectively.

Chasing down the target, St Lucia Kings faced an immediate challenge as their top order crumbled very quickly. Early wickets left them in a catastrophic position. However, with the weight of the chase resting heavily on the middle order, the situation demanded a commanding performance. That’s when, Roston Chase and Aaron Jones steadied the innings with a crucial partnership. Both players played match-defining innings, guiding the side to the six-wicket victory. Chase and Jones finished on 39 and 48 respectively.
