Afghanistan have named their squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, with Rashid Khan making his comeback to the side in more than three years. Rashid returns to the longest format following a prolonged absence. Rashid remained away from the longest format on the medical advice following a groin injury.

He last featured in a Test match in 2021 in Abu Dhabi. His last appearance was also against Zimbabwe. The squad also has the likes of Ismat Alam, Zahir Shehzad and Bashir Ahmad, who all have been added to the squad on the back of impressive performances in domestic cricket.

"Rashid Khan returns to the Test squad, which is a promising sign for our red-ball game going forward. The rest of the team underwent good preparations recently in Nangarhar province, which featured 19 players and all the support staff to work with the players and ensure full preparation for the series," Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil, ACB's interim chief selector, stated in a statement.

"We have thoroughly monitored the proceedings and have picked the squad which includes several new faces, including Ismat Alam, Bashir Ahmad, and Zahir Shehzad, who have performed well during the recent Ahmad Shah Abdali first-class tournament."
