Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine has been ruled out of the ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a calf strain suffered ahead of the first ODI. He picked up the injury on the eve of the first ODI (Thursday), following which he underwent an MRI scan that revealed a Grade II strain on his left calf as a chronic and resolving Grade I strain in his right calf, putting him out of the series. In his absence, Sean Williams will captain the side.

Ervine's absence is a big setback for Zimbabwe, as he has been one of their most experienced batters, with 128 ODIs under his belt.

Talking about the first match, which began on Friday in Harare, Zimbabwe won the toss and decided to bowl. Meanwhile, Brendan Taylor makes his comeback to the side after serving a three-year ban for corruption-related charges.
