Former Indian cricketer questions Ishan Kishan’s absence from the T20Is vs Australia

Recently, India’s young-looking squad dominated the proceedings in the five-match T20I series against Australia where Suryakumar Yadav led the team. India won the series 4-1 with their victories coming in the first two matches and last two matches. Australia, on the other side, registered their victory in the third match only. India had given opportunities to many new faces in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma and Mukesh Kumar. Team had performed really well in the high-scoring games. One fact that stood out was the exclusion of wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan as he had been benched for the last two games that didn’t go well with many. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja questioned Ishan Kishan’s omission from India’s playing XI. Ajay Jadeja hit out at Indian management for keeping Ishan Kishan away from the last two matches. Ishan Kishan had produced great innings with his half-century knocks.
“There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home. Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn’t even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing for the first few World Cup matches. How many Indian players have scored a double century on a good day? He can change the game on his day,” Jadeja said on Sports Tak.
“Ishan Kishan didn’t even play the entire five-match series against Australia. He was sent home after three matches to rest. So, if this is going to continue, how will you ensure that he is fully ready?,” he said.
