Pakistan announce squad for ICC Under-19 World Cup
Pakistan have confirmed their 15-member squad for the upcoming Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup, along with the preceding tri-series to be held in Zimbabwe. The team will once again be led by 19-year-old middle-order batter Farhan Yousaf. The tri-series and the World Cup will be staged across Zimbabwe and Namibia, with the global tournament scheduled to run from 15 January to 6 February.
Pakistan have only a single adjustment from the squad that featured in the Asia Cup. Fast bowler Umar Zaib has been added to the lineup, replacing left-arm spinner Mohammad Huzaifa. At present, the Pakistan U19 side is competing in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai. The team finished second in Group A and has secured a place in the semi-finals, where they are set to take on Bangladesh on Friday, 19 December.
The tri-series, which involves Afghanistan, Pakistan and hosts Zimbabwe, will serve as a key platform in their preparation for the World Cup. The tri-series will be played from 25 December to 6 January.
