IND-W vs SL-W, 5th T20I: Relentless India target series whitewash

India and Sri Lanka women are set to face each other in the fifth and final T20I on Tuesday in Thiruvananthapuram, with the series having already been clinched by India. Carrying an unassailable 4–0 lead, India have dominated the contest from start to finish, turning the tour into a harsh learning experience for Sri Lanka.

For Sri Lanka, the series has not been fruitful as they build towards the upcoming T20 World Cup. The first three matches were particularly one-sided, with the batting unit failing to fire and producing modest totals of 121, 128, and 112. Those scores were never enough to challenge India, who chased targets with ease.

The fourth T20I, however, saw resistance from Sri Lanka. Posting 191, the visitors finally showed brilliance with the bat. Yet, even this improved performance could not alter the familiar outcome. India’s batters once again proved their dominance, and the hosts chased down the target to seal their fourth consecutive victory.

Heading into the final match, Sri Lanka’s objective will be to avoid a whitewash and restore some pride. India, on the other hand, will be keen to complete a 5–0 sweep.
